"As an experienced rider with 20+ years in dressage and hunter jumper at barns across the US, I've had a hard time finding serious, high-quality training on excellent horses for riders without the financial means to own a horse. This is rare, and Frenchtown Riding Club is the answer I'd been searching for. Here, experienced riders can continue developing at a competitive level without owning a horse (although several of the riders do board horses here too). After years of trying out several barns throughout the state, I’m so grateful to have discovered it.

This family-run barn has cultivated an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of age, experience level, or background, feels welcomed. Beyond a rigorous riding program, Frenchtown has fostered a genuine community. The owners, Shelby and Barbara, are accessible, professional, and welcoming and they host social events several times a month for riders and their families. Plus, the facilities are beautiful and horses well cared for.

My trainer, Kristin, is an expert in equitation and a true master teacher. As both a professional riding and dance instructor, she has a unique ability to observe movement and communicate how to ride in a way that has elevated my riding to the next level. Her focus on embodiment (understanding how your riding affects the horse's balance and movement) is essential regardless of riding level or discipline.

I've been working through fear from a recent traumatic riding injury, and I can think of no better trainer to guide me through this process. Kristin makes me feel safe while pushing me to become a more confident and self-aware rider. She is an exceptional teacher and a lovely person. I especially appreciate her attention to pedagogy and her ability to work with each rider and horse based on their individual needs.
